In life we make all kinds of decisions some right, some wrong, some create success, some create failures.  I have made many of both.  You can have success in one area of your life at the same time you are failing in another.

I'm at the fork in the road and the decision I make right now decides which way I will go!  Here comes the pain!

Change is good, right?

Wow, a lot has happened since my post from November.  Where to begin?

That weekend of the Turkey bowl turned into a not-so-fun day.  I came to the realization that I'm not a young man anymore.  I left the Turkey bowl with a broken finger and a torn calf muscle, yikes.

We miss you Rosie!
Also, that weekend our yellow lab Rosie started to get sick and she went down hill from there.  On that Monday afternoon we had to put her to sleep, very hard day, very hard day.  Rosie was our second child, Rosie went everywhere with us, she was such a huge part of our family and we miss her terribly bad.

On a positive note this January I was offered a new position with the company I work for.  I moved over to the Product Management team owning one of our Data Center Management software solutions, been a blast so far.  So, change is good, at least so far. :)

So, my life is like a bad country song....Got beat up, my dog died and I got a new job!  Ok, that was bad.

Moving on---
I haven't had a chance to join the gym yet but I plan to this week.  It's time to start getting in some cardio and getting some of this weight off.

Back to work.  Later.

Happy Friday, I think....

Good Morning!  Wow, two blog post in a row, amazing!  My morning started off a little rough, I'm just having a hard time waking up.  Adding some good coffee is certainly helping the situation, that's for sure.

For the past two days I've been teaching a class at work so my time is limited during the day so I figured I would post this morning.  I got on the scale this morning.....um.....when did that happen....laughing out loud.  I gained entirely too much weight over the last 4 years, gross, I feel like the Michelin man!  Oh well, like I said in my last post, it is what it is and it will change.

I'm looking forward to this weekend.  A bunch of folks at work are participating in the Turkey Bowl for a charity.  Several teams involved in a competitive flag football tournament to raise money for a good cause, always a good thing.  It should be a lot of fun.

Well, time to get to work, make it a great Friday.

What is happening with The Running Man???

So much has happened over the last 3 years, where to begin....

...finally our family is back together!  If you were not aware back in May of 2009 I took a job offer with a company based in northern Alabama.  Instead of relocating we decided as a family that Ashli and Gracie would stay in Greenville and I would commute back and forth on the weekends, kinda of a super commuter if you will.  Amazingly, we did this for over three years before we decided to fully relocate to Huntsville, Alabama. We don't regret our decision as there were may reasons to support the way we handled it but it was time to come back together as a family.

So what about my health and fitness journey?  Well, it took a backseat, more like took the very last seat!  I'm essentially almost back to my original weight before starting my initial journey to a healthier life.  You know what though?  I'm OK with it, it is what it is.

What about your goals of running a marathon or finishing a full Ironman?  Those goals, well, they're still something I want to achieve in my life.  They are still very much in my thoughts on a daily basis.

So, what now?  I don't know.  I'm starting over, I struggle everyday to try and find the motivation to stick to any level of exercise and nutrition.  I know I have lots of excuses, yep, no shortage there.  I also know I still have the desire, and I still have the drive.  I've written a lot of these...Time to get back to it, I'm fat and need to get my fitness goals and stick with it....posts.  I even created a YouTube channel to help keep myself motivated, but I haven't been able to stick with it.

Are you ready now?  Yes I am.  It's time.  It's time to stop all the excuses.  I know the formula, I've done this before...slow and steady wins the race.  The fact is, if I continue my current trends my health will get worse, I'm destroying my body and it's time to stop.  It's time to get my health back for me and for my wife and daughter.

How?  Listen, no detailed workouts or plans needed....it's real simple eat less and eat better!  Once I can get the garbage out of my diet then maybe I will look to get in the weeds and develop a road map to create Jason The Running Man version 2.  For now, simple, slow, and steady.  This blog along with my YouTube channel will be important to keep myself on track.  I still want to document life, as it happens.  The ups and downs and everything in between.

So look for more consistent updates to come.  JTRM v2 coming to a store near you.

Sunny Sunday...

Workouts
6 minute Recumbent Bike
warmup

45 Minute Ellitpical
3.1 Miles

The workout went well but the problems started when I got back to the house. I started feeling very faint, weak, and just very uneasy. My blood sugar was way too low. I popped a handful of jelly beans and made a ham and tomato sandwich and after about 30 minutes I was feeling much better. I never had a problem with this in the past but I need to keep an eye on it, crazy. So, I'm feeling better now and will make some adjustments to my diet this week and add some complex carbs back in to my diet. Time for more veggies and whole grains.

After the workout I hung around the pool with Gracie and Ashli for about 30 minutes so maybe the direct sun and pool, workouts, and lack of calories didn't help. Anyway, we had fun goofing around. I'm just trying to relax at this point and enjoy the evening. I have to be at work earlier than normal tomorrow for conference call with our APAC region, should be fun.

Have a great Sunday night.

Ahh the weekend...

The weekend is here and so far it's been kind of crazy but overall going well. I finally got to the gym this afternoon and got in a decent cardio workout.

50 Minute Elliptical
3.6 Miles

My nutrition has been spot on today and this morning I'm 16 pounds lighter than last Sunday! I actually hope the weight loss will slow a bit or I'm going to have to make some changes to the diet, don't need to lose to fast. I've past up so much garbage food this week its nuts, I'm dialed in and this weight is coming off. I've also limited my caffeine this week to one can of diet cherry Pepsi a day and I've been completely off coffee for about a month now, that's a win in and of itself!

I wanted to maybe hit the road for some short runs this weekend but I think I'm going to stick to the elliptical for another week. I do need to get signed up with a decent gym here in Alabama because the apartment fitness room is a mess with a bunch of broken equipment which is really frustrating. I'll be heading down to Ft Lauderdale for 5 days in a few weeks but the hotel has a great little fitness area that I will be hitting everyday. With all the food temptation it's going to be a challenge to stay on track but I'm betting I will come out on top and stay the course.

Have a great rest of the weekend....
