Run: 3.1 Miles
Time: 29:57 (9:40 pace)
Got to the gym around 9:00 pm last night and hopped on the treadmill. I spent about 3 or 4 minutes just getting adjusted to running on it because this is only my second run ever on treadmill.
I decided I would do high tempo 5k to see where I stood with that distance. I started off a little slower then I wanted and did the first mile in 10:30. The second mile I turned up the speed a little bit and hit 10 flat. Just over the 2 mile mark my time was around 20:30 so I pushed up the speed a little more and did the last 1.1 miles in 9:27. It felt great and my allergies didn't bother me while I was running, however, during my cooldown the allergies kicked in and really started acting up. Once I got out of the shower and took my meds I was fine.
I'm really happy to push my 5k distance under the 30 minute mark. My last two 5k training runs have now been under that mark. Tonight I will do another treadmill run and tomorrow morning I am meeting a coworker to do a long bike ride around Donaldson Center. I'm going to push to do around 28 miles, which is about 4 laps. I will be meeting him around 8am tomorrow morning and it should be a blast. Hope everyone has a great Friday. - Jason The Running Man

I found that running on the treadmill helped me with my pacing by forcing me to stay at a set pace the whole time. I also found that it is an easier way to do speed intervals and hill intervals without having to find and area that conforms to what you want to do. It may not help your mental outlook the way running outside does, but it should be a great tool to improve your performance.

Jason you're doing great with your speed! congrats on getting into the sub 30 zone that's awesome! I plan to hit the treadmill tonight as well and am hoping the allergy-cold thing I have works with me.
I have just decided I need to get back on the dreadmill for the reasons you just described. Congrats on the good 5K.
